General information only. This page explains, in plain language, how the Dear lotteries are organised and where to find official information. It is not an official source. Where anything here differs from the organising State’s own notification, gazette or website, the official source prevails.
What is Dear Lottery?
“Dear” is the name used for a series of paper lotteries organised by State Governments in India. Under the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998, a State lottery may have no more than one draw a week, so each named lottery draws on a particular weekday at a particular time. That is why the name printed on a ticket changes with the day and the draw time.
The names “Dear Lottery” and “Dear Lotteries” are trade marks of their respective proprietor. R R Agency does not own them and uses them only to describe the tickets it deals in.
Who organises the draws
According to the official State lottery websites (as checked by R R Agency – see the date on the Results & Draw Times page), the Dear draws are organised as follows:
Official result page for the 1:00 PM draw (opens in a new tab) ↗
Official result page for the 6:00 PM draw (opens in a new tab) ↗
Official result page for the 8:00 PM draw (opens in a new tab) ↗
The organising State prints the tickets, conducts the draw within its own territory, publishes the result in its Official Gazette and newspapers, and pays prizes. Every genuine ticket carries the imprint and logo of the organising State.
How the paper-ticket trade is organised
The Act allows a State to sell tickets itself or through distributors or selling agents that it appoints. Public notices of the Nagaland State Lotteries describe a chain in which the appointed distributor may appoint sub-distributors, area distributors, stockists, sub-stockists and retailers:
- Organising State Government – organises the lottery, prints tickets, conducts draws, pays prizes
- Distributor appointed by the State – markets and sells on the State’s behalf, by agreement
- Sub-distributors and area distributors
- Stockists and sub-stockists – wholesale supply to retail counters (R R Agency works at this level)
- Retailers – sale of physical tickets to adult buyers
R R Agency is a private wholesale business within this trade. It is not a government body and is not a distributor appointed by any State Government.
Dear Lottery ticket price and prize structure
Scheme names, ticket prices, prize structures and the number of tickets are fixed by the organising State and published before each lottery is launched. Because these details are set by notification and can change, we do not reproduce them here. Please read them on the official State website or on the ticket itself.
How to verify a result yourself
- Note the lottery name, draw date, draw time and the full ticket number (including any series letters) printed on your ticket.
- Open the organising State’s official result page for that draw time, using the links on our Results & Draw Times page.
- Select the correct date and check that the lottery name on the result matches the name on your ticket.
- Compare the full ticket number carefully, prize by prize. Social-media posts, WhatsApp forwards and private result websites are not official and can be wrong.
- The result published in the State’s Official Gazette is the final, authoritative version.
Prize claims
Step-by-step guidance on claims up to and above ₹10,000, the 30-day deadline and tax on winnings is on our Rules, Tax & Prize Claims page.
Before you claim
Prizes are paid by the organising State under its own rules. The claim form, the documents required, where the claim must be lodged and the time limit for claiming are set out by the State – the time limit is short and runs from the official publication of the result, so act promptly. Prize money is paid after deduction of tax as required by law.
- Read the current claim form and instructions on the organising State’s website before you do anything else.
- Keep the original ticket safe and undamaged; do not hand it to anyone who contacts you claiming to be an agent.
- No genuine organiser, distributor or stockist will ask you to pay a fee, “tax”, “GST” or “processing charge” to release a prize. R R Agency never does. Report such demands at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.
