Dear Lottery sub-stockist, agent and retailer enquiries in Siliguri and North Bengal. How the paper-lottery distribution chain works, bulk supply and unsold-ticket returns.

For two decades, R R Agency has worked as a lottery stockist in Siliguri. We supply paper lottery tickets from our counter on Bidhan Market Road, a short walk from Hill Cart Road, in the heart of the town’s wholesale market.

How lottery stockist distribution works

State lotteries are sold through a chain that starts with the State Government. The Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998 lets an organising State sell tickets itself or through distributors or selling agents it appoints by agreement. For the Dear lotteries of Nagaland and Sikkim, the Nagaland State Lotteries’ public notice and an Enforcement Directorate press release name Future Gaming and Hotel Services Pvt. Ltd. as the distributor. The notice says that distributor may appoint sub-distributors, area distributors, stockists and retailers.

R R Agency is a private wholesale stockist within this paper-lottery trade. We are not a State-appointed distributor, and we do not speak for any State Government or for the brand owner.

Difference between a lottery stockist, sub-stockist and agent

  • Distributor: appointed by the organising State through an agreement to market and sell its lotteries. Its name and address are published by the State.
  • Stockist: a wholesale business that buys stock within the distribution network and supplies it onward in bulk to sub-stockists and counters.
  • Sub-stockist: a smaller wholesaler who takes stock from a stockist and supplies a local group of retailers.
  • Agent or retailer: the counter that sells physical tickets to adult buyers and, where the State’s rules allow, settles small prizes.
